FREEING ONE’S “TRUE SELF”

There’s no consciousness without the material world
And there’s no part of that material world without at least some consciousness.

Also

There’s no physical entity that doesn’t include the potential for “life”
As an intrinsic and necessary part of its structure.

Because

Life is inherent in unlife –
And consciousness is innate in life –
So objective spiritual truth must be a fundamental element of the cosmos.

Eventually, over time,

God was born as a human being, bearing the name of Jesus,
And Jesus, in turn, matured into God while remaining wholly human.

In sum,

God created the universe by opening up an infinitesimally small gap into and through nothing –
Starting out with dust –
And is now partway on the path to re-creating God
In another time and space
Who, spiritually, is the ultimate perfect balanced combination
Of Love, Truth, Justice, and Beauty.

It’s like opening up one’s hand –
Discovering a trapped bird –
And allowing the freedom of an unborn self
To fly straight to its very own “true self.”

THE FACE OF GOD

When looking deeply into the face of God
We disappear.

Not only do we fall in love
We drown in love –
And, then, become Love.

Rising up past the material world
We step beyond the animal in us –
Beyond the human in us –
Even the angel in us
And become a “true” human being –
Someone God decides is worthy to inhabit.

It’s that “face” of God we’ve all been searching for –
So we leap into it and become it –
Entering into the world of God’s Love.

It’s the face we put on when looking at others
To demonstrate love beyond everyday human love –
God’s love –
Which opens up even to “enemies”
Who no longer qualify as that
Since God (and, now, we)
No longer have enemies.

It’s a short jump
Even if an almost infinite leap –
From being a regular human being
Into someone who embodies God.

THINKING IS A TOOL

Thinking is good – perhaps even better than knowing –
Because thinking is a tool – like a knife is for cutting –

And cutting is important to distinguish one thing from another.

For most human beings, thinking is an outward-facing tool –
Rarely used for cutting the cutter.

People make exquisitely fine cuts
Truly accurate dissections of others –
But, ordinarily, fail to address themselves.

Someone able to use a knife on herself
Is able to open eyes all over her body
To see through time and space.

If she keeps cutting, she’ll end up with nothing –
Which is a result God encourages – ultimate freedom!
The place where the universe begins and ends –
Where love, truth, justice, beauty, and freedom
Constitute points from which everything else bursts into being –
Where spirit touches the material world –
After taking a long path from material to spirit –
And then repeating itself
Over and over again.

THE RAPTURE

The rapture is not a physical ascendance –
(which is a spiritual-materialistic concept).

The rapture is when we’re so overwhelmed by love –
That it occasions a feeling of floating – above and looking down at – one’s self –
After we have jettisoned our “ego.”

So, rapture is not just when you are “feeling” some love,
Rapture is when you become love –
And leave the material world behind.

GOD IS SPIRIT

People imagine a cartoon God
Because, too much of their time, they are living cartoon lives.

If true reality ever touched them
They might simply disappear.

Historically, it was easier to believe in a cartoon god
As a “drum major” for cartoon selves – that is, for our “egos”–
Rather than engage in an earnest search for a “real” God.

Jesus, Buddha, and Mohammed all taught God was “spirit,”
And, given that a “true self” also is spirit –
And in the same sense –
There always existed a possibility of ecstatic “marriage” between the two.

If we believe God is a material God acting in a material world –
Then that is a complete misunderstanding of who God is – and what the world is.

Instead, God is “love,”
And that’s how we meet God – in love relationships.

God is “truth,”
Another good way to meet God – when we have the courage to tell the truth.

God is “justice” –
We encounter God each time we take a just action.

Finally, God is “beauty” –
So appreciating the beauty in our lives is another excellent way to experience God.

God, and our relationship to God, really, have nothing to do with “egos”
Or materialistic searches for “wealth,” “power,” or “notoriety” –

Instead, God is spirit and only spirit –

And that’s what the “true self” is too.
