BEAUTY’S ALWAYS THERE JUST LIKE GOD

Beauty
Takes your breath away
So you never forget it
Till meeting it again after stepping off a “cliff”
Into life/death.

Beauty is what you first see when opening up your eyes at birth
And what you could continue seeing except for a long hazy sleep –
The sleep of your long-developed and cherished ego.

You spend your entire adult life attempting to wake back up –
To see, once again, what you first saw –
The naked beauty of the world.

It’s always there – right behind your eyelids –
Covering up your “true” eyes –
You can open them anytime you wish –
But only after giving up that hypnotic dreamworld.

Oh, God, let me see
Just like You see!

Let me be awake in the same way You’re awake –
Let me experience beauty every moment
Of my grateful/ungrateful life!

GOD SINGS IN COLORS

Traditional English poets were primitive
Because you could hear the “beat” but not actually “see” much of anything.

When your heart echoes that beat and starts becoming giddy –
Your eyes will still be saying you have no idea where you really are!

A poet of fountains hears cool splashing –
A poet of the mind occasionally knows what he’s talking about –
But a poet that “sees” the world – as it is –
Is the poet God listens to.

God sings all the time –
Not always in melodies, that’s true,
But listen – God’s singing right now
About a direction in which to go and friends we might want to listen to!

God also sings in colors –
But only mystics are able to see this beauty
And only mystics have a good idea what God’s been talking about –
Generally, love, truth, justice, or beauty –
Directing these holy conversations straight through our hearts.

WHAT’S REALLY “REAL”?

Is only what’s visible – “real”?

But, what if the invisible’s just hiding –
For our own good?

After all, what would happen if God, even once, showed up “plain as day” –
Wouldn’t we need to quickly become invisible in order to protect ourselves?

And what would God “see” when God “looks” at us?

A bright dusting of subatomic particles –
Flowering in kaleidoscopic dimensions –
Struggling for some priority of “appearance”?

On the other hand, when we “look” at God, we aren’t able to “see” anything
Because God isn’t a “thing”
Which proves the secularists correct – (at least to the extent they’re willing to go) –
Since, logically, without “thingness,” no “thing” can possibly exist!

So, by establishing “Gods” and their respective civilizations,
People projected giant spiritual puppets up and away from themselves –
Placing them on distant heavenly thrones.

However, recently, we’ve been in a process of losing our belief in such “Gods” –
So, mightn’t there be some danger that our “socially-constructed selves”
Might also get blown to pieces in the ensuing chaos?

Don’t we understand anything
Do we really have to take all the churches, mosques, and synagogues apart, stone by stone,
Along with all the traditional religious rhetoric – phrase be phrase,
In order to get free enough to encounter a “real” God
Face to face –

That is, for us, finally, to become fully conscious and fully alive?
