TOUCHING A DREAM WOUND

God is a spiritual relative about whom we’ve only distantly heard
But never actually met.

We do know that, one day, we’ll have an encounter
But it’ll be a surprise:

One example might be in a dream:

We’re deboarding a train
And notice someone in the passing crowd who looks familiar –
The resemblance to our first love so remarkable
That we can never forget it.

Meeting God “face to face” would have to be something like this –
An individual resurrection experience –
Similar to when the disciples didn’t know who they were talking to –
And only figured it out later.

Yes, sometimes our first encounter with God is in an oblique way –
We meet, and then instantly forget it’s happened –
The proof not in a wound we’re able to plunge a hand into –
But the reverse –
When we sense a gentle hand entering our own body –
Delicately touching our heart –
And spilling “life” out of us –
Everywhere.

Yes, sometimes, God can enter us through a dream –
If we’re interested enough
To remember when it happens.

THE BIBLE “FORETELLS” THE APPEARANCE OF THE PUREST GIRL IN THE WORLD

In the Fifth Beatitude, Jesus referred to her:
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for she shall see God.”

And Paul, in his hymn to love, showed he knew what she’d be like:
“Now we are seeing a dim reflection in a mirror, but then she shall see face to face.”

Paul also says:
“Her body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.”

What a total surprise this young female avatar will be –
A girl from the Southern Hemisphere
Embodying God in ways no man has ever been able to achieve.

THE APPLE OF LIFE

The snake tricked us
Into eating an apple –
But the conversation wasn’t really about apples.

Instead, the snake whispered:
“Watch me shed my skin
And become something entirely new.”

The snake was happy
About its rebirth,
Viewing it as an exchange of realities –
Life and freedom in return for work and risk.

God never barred the tree of life from us –
We’re able to walk over any time, take a bite, and
Become fully “alive” –
But, after that first bite, each subsequent step needs to be in full reality –
Looking at God – “face to face” –
Letting our “ego-self” die!

Instead of doing that,
We decided to take a long slow route
Out of the Garden –
And around the world –
For thousands of generations –
Enswirled in brilliant denial dreams –

Destined to keep going
Until we get bored enough, spiritually, to wake up
And begin living in “true reality” –

Biting cleanly into the apple
Of life.

WHAT’S REALLY “REAL”?

Is only what’s visible – “real”?

But, what if the invisible’s just hiding –
For our own good?

After all, what would happen if God, even once, showed up “plain as day” –
Wouldn’t we need to quickly become invisible in order to protect ourselves?

And what would God “see” when God “looks” at us?

A bright dusting of subatomic particles –
Flowering in kaleidoscopic dimensions –
Struggling for some priority of “appearance”?

On the other hand, when we “look” at God, we aren’t able to “see” anything
Because God isn’t a “thing”
Which proves the secularists correct – (at least to the extent they’re willing to go) –
Since, logically, without “thingness,” no “thing” can possibly exist!

So, by establishing “Gods” and their respective civilizations,
People projected giant spiritual puppets up and away from themselves –
Placing them on distant heavenly thrones.

However, recently, we’ve been in a process of losing our belief in such “Gods” –
So, mightn’t there be some danger that our “socially-constructed selves”
Might also get blown to pieces in the ensuing chaos?

Don’t we understand anything
Do we really have to take all the churches, mosques, and synagogues apart, stone by stone,
Along with all the traditional religious rhetoric – phrase be phrase,
In order to get free enough to encounter a “real” God
Face to face –

That is, for us, finally, to become fully conscious and fully alive?

THE FUNNY THING IS

The funny thing is –
When you start moving closer to God
You also begin losing pieces of yourself –

And when your goal is reached
You’ll be completely gone –

Gone,
But still there.

It’s only your artificiality that’ll really be gone.

At that point, you’ll be free enough –
To stand in front of God – face to face –

You won’t be able to see yourself though –
Even though others still will.

Yes, it’s true, once you finally let go –
And are no longer there –
You’ll actually be more there than you ever were before.
