UNCOVERING THE NUMINOUS LATER IN LIFE

Everything both is, and is not, “numinous” –
Depending upon which set of eyes you’re looking through –
The trick is to remember which ones you’re using at any given moment
So, when “holy time” arrives, you can wake up out of your ordinary eyes.

Sometimes, God gently touches (or slaps) your face –
So you wake up
And, suddenly, everything becomes numinous.

One’s ego, however, never engages with the numinous
Because the ego, by nature, is trapped inside itself for its own protection
And so neversees” God –
Which is why all the world religions, historically, have never been very effective.

Freedom provides a broad opening into the numinous –
– Freedom from self, from “God,” and from everything else –
Such freedom is so radical, it’s equivalent to dying –
And, then, dying a second time!

Permission granted –
Now you’re able to “see”
A single object – numinously!

But, one day, the whole world will open itself up to you in this same way –
An experience like going a trillion miles an hour
In pure silence.

TODAY

Christianity is a big city religion
Because Jesus, Peter, and Paul all went into capitol cities to die.

Cities are a domain of control –
The opposite of nature or God.

As a consequence, Christianity decided to place its God into an unchangeable canon –
And then closed it for good –
Whereas “spirit” is like an invisible ball
Children enjoy playing with.

Starting quite early, however, Christianity’s most serious games
Involved war –
Taught, derivatively, by its self-designated “13th Apostle” –
Constantine.

On the other hand,
Each individual could be like Jesus
Deciding to become a child of God –
And live as God would live
If God were human –
That is, completely “free.”

Anyone could do this – it’s what Jesus, Buddha
And Mohammed all taught –

But isn’t that the opposite of what the world religions are teaching us
Today?

IS “HEAVEN” ONLY A CARTOON?

Every “outer” God is a false God
And that’s why “Jesus” can’t be substituted for our own soul.

Everyone needs to walk by themselves –
To talk, and to make things –
At some point, each of us simply has to let go of all the “outer hands”
And trust to one’s “inner self.”

This might be taking a big risk, however –
Because if we’re not fully ready –
We might fall down –
Yet, without discovering our true self, we would be nothing –
Other than an imitative puppet – even though fairly effective in the world
And acknowledged to be such.

There’s really no approach to the real God without being one’s true self
Isn’t that obvious?

Jesus tried to explain this, in his teaching and life –
But people didn’t “get” what he was talking about
And so developed theologies of dutifully following “Others” –
Sometimes called “God” or “Jesus,” and, in other religions, something else –
But it’s still the “Other” – and not our true selves.

We know this is a serious problem
That the world religions, by their very nature, have been unable to address –

The essential problem is that many of us live too much like “puppets” –
In which case, “Heaven,” for us, would be a cartoon too.
