If the “self” is a problem
And finding one’s “true self” the main issue
How will we ever find our “true” self
Without first establishing a true world?

It’s a conundrum, isn’t it: since, in most cases, there can’t be a true self
Without first establishing a true “world”?
But such a true world can never be founded
Except by true selves.

This is where psychology merges into politics
And politics back into psychology –
Always in the context of an “alive” God
(No old, stale Gods for us!)

Love, truth, justice, beauty and, of course, freedom, are essential aspects
Of any “living” God
Who can make possible both “true selves” and a “true world.”

Everything, however, can and, eventually will, get better – it just takes time –
Along with large scoops of hope and love –
And, certainly, a lot more awakeness –

God, please help us wake up – NOW!

UNCOVERING THE NUMINOUS LATER IN LIFE

Everything both is, and is not, “numinous” –
Depending upon which set of eyes you’re looking through –
The trick is to remember which ones you’re using at any given moment
So, when “holy time” arrives, you can wake up out of your ordinary eyes.

Sometimes, God gently touches (or slaps) your face –
So you wake up
And, suddenly, everything becomes numinous.

One’s ego, however, never engages with the numinous
Because the ego, by nature, is trapped inside itself for its own protection
And so never “sees” God –
Which is why all the world religions, historically, have never been very effective.

Freedom provides a broad opening into the numinous –
– Freedom from self, from “God,” and from everything else –
Such freedom is so radical, it’s equivalent to dying –
And, then, dying a second time!

Permission granted –
Now you’re able to “see”
A single object – numinously!

But, one day, the whole world will open itself up to you in this same way –
An experience like going a trillion miles an hour
In pure silence.

HER SLIGHTLY FADING BUT ALWAYS FAITHFUL LOVER

You wake up and, magically, you’ve become someone else –
Someplace else!

You can do this at least once in a lifetime –
As well as every day, and every second if you really want!

Falling asleep is traveling where the dreamgods live –
Falling asleep is where love can no longer even be imagined!

So, you need to wake up and, then, wake up once more –
Awakening out of ordinary awakeness –
Listen, you can do this again
And again and again!

God keeps slapping you gently on the face, saying,
“Wake up, wake up, little one” –
And so you do, but only reluctantly.

Descending through God’s universe-sized face and approaching my wife of many years –
I see her smiling quizzically and starting to laugh –

Because she recognizes me –
She knows who I’ve always been
And has a good sense about who I’m about to become –

That is, her slightly fading but always faithful lover.

THE NEED FOR A NEW MESSIAH

Jesus taught that each individual soul needs to wake up –
So, please, Wake Up!
Jesus made this demand every day of his life – up until his dying day.

However, now, and most especially now, we need a new kind of Messiah –
A New Messiah!
Who can call out not just to individuals – but to every individual in the world collectively –
That is, to Everybody in the Entire World All at Once!

We know the earth’s been overheating like a frying pan –
Getting too hot to handle –
And the seas are next to boiling over –
While winds have been achieving ahistorical force-multipliers.

Yes, waves have been getting too high, winds blowing too strong,
And heat getting much too hot –
So, now, a New Messiah is needed who everyone in the world can hear at once –
Asking human beings to “wake up” – all at the same time –
And instantly rally to do what’s necessary for stopping
This threat of an impending global warming catastrophe.

This New Messiah will embody, like Jesus did during his own time,
The spirit of all those who love God,
Along with all the children’s hopes and concerns about “saving the world” –
And, adding to our own individual/collective human voices (inspired most recently by AOC),
This New Messiah will say:
“Put a stop to all the inexorable greed and corruption arising out of carbon-based capitalism”
And “The spirit of God is equal to what’s needed for our planet’s survival”
And “God is the source of all light as well as the source of all life.”

This is true when we “wake up” and see that we are the sea –
And also true when we remember what it’s like to be children again
With all their “bright colors” in our eyes.

The medieval mystical women who talked like this, spiritually, knew everything –
So ambitious male Church officials made certain they were ignored, and, if not,
Sometimes, like Marguerite, they were killed.

Marguerite went on to say that a soul feels no joy –
“Since she herself is joy.”

Perhaps she also meant that there’s a kind of joy that exists beyond joy –
Which is what God feels.

But to understand this, one already has to be filled with joy –
And then, by adding a bit more, joy literally starts “spilling over.”

All of us have known someone like this –
Who, on a regular basis, becomes overwhelmed with joy.

They’re born this way –
The same way that God can never be anything but God.

In fact, the entire world is made of joy –
But we fail to acknowledge it because we’re too busy being manipulative.

This is the mind’s fault –
And, sometimes, also, our no-humility hearts.

Surprise us God – no matter what we’ve wished for, prayed for, or obsessed over –
Knock us out –
Knock us out with joy!

TIME IS NOT REAL

The past and future are not “real” – but simply “mental bookkeeping” –
True reality is present only in the “Now” –
The sole “eternity” that exists
And where God, in fact, actually lives.

This “Now” is experienced, ordinarily, only when we get “out of our minds” –

However, when we experience life mainly “inside” our minds,
Real life will continue on in its spontaneous and colorful way – on the outside –
Totally ignoring our inner obsessions.

This “outside” life could be ours – all the time –
If we ever decided to “wake up”
And start sharing life with God in the “Now.”

COLORS

When you’re looking at colors – but instead observe only shapes or ideas –
When you’re having tea with friends – but dream about being somewhere else –
Or if your ideas have turned out to be all derivative –

Dear friend, it might be time to “wake up” –
Sparkle; effervesce a little – begin living a “real” life.

It would be much like being slapped in the face
By “beauty.”

When you wake up this way
You’ll start seeing the colors you once experienced as a child –
The colors that make up God’s beautiful “face.”

SUBJECTS AND OBJECTS

“Sin”
Is treating people (including one’s self) and other living beings as objects.

Objects aren’t real – they’re ephemeral –
Only subjects are “real” in any true sense.

For example, the ego is a self-made intangible “object”
While your “true self” is always a subject.

The essential work of human beings is to find and align
Their true selves with a “real” God – not with “made-up” ones.

Mostly, though, we need to jump-start our everyday lives
Into an alternative world of creativity, joy, and color –
That we’ll start experiencing the moment
We decide to put aside our comfortable ego
And, completely, “wake up”!

JESUS DID IT FIRST

After, spiritually, we’ve fallen fast asleep –
Suddenly, God will open a door
Where, apparently, there had been no door –
And, with a good-natured chuckle, surprise us back to life!

Inside God’s voice may be heard another – more distant voice –
We hear it by being able to glimpse a face
Behind the face of society’s accepted quotidian “God.”

At times, though, it can seem like we’re a leaf floating downstream – just being carried along –
Sometimes exhilarated, at other times, getting stuck –
No matter how fast we go, however, usually we’re pretty passive –
So that what seems to us like “action” – is more like being a stone flung up into the air.

Given this, how much work and courage would it really take
To become fully conscious and fully alive –
To even start such an effort?

It might be easier than you think!
First, just wake up –
And then wake yourself a second time to your highest state of “awakeness” –
Walk to the nearest window
And look out –
If you’re fully “awake” by that time – more than you’ve ever been before –
At that very moment, you’ll get hit “right in the puss” with joy –
Human beings’ natural state.

It takes only a single moment to pass into eternity
Where we come to “life” without passing through a womb –
Avatars call this “life beyond life” –
Jesus called it pretty much the same thing – “being born again” –
But no one has described, specifically, what it’s really like.

Jesus lived through these peak experiences many times –
Especially, and finally, when singing the 22nd Psalm on the cross –
“My God, my God, why ….”

A touch of joy in death – unimaginable –

But Jesus did it first.
